Emergency Preparedness Tips

Practical advice for better emergency preparation.

Water Supply

Plan around 3 litres per person per day — for drinking and cooking. For 14 days, that's 42 litres per person.

Rotate Supplies

Use older food first and replenish regularly. This keeps your supplies useful and fresh.

Proper Storage

Store supplies in a cool, dry and dark place. Check packaging and expiry dates regularly.

Basic Supplies

Focus on simple shelf-stable foods: rice, pasta, oats, canned goods, oil, nuts and foods you actually eat.

Equipment

Think beyond food: flashlight, batteries, radio, first-aid supplies, hygiene items and important medication.

Cooking Without Power

A camping or gas stove can help. Use it only according to the instructions, with ventilation, and never unattended.
